Best of The Best 2002

Madame Paulette goes above and beyond the call of dry cleaning duty. Operated by John Mahdessian, whose father founded the Manhattan business in 1959, it is the dry cleaner of choice for fine fashion houses such as Versace, Chanel and Armani. Sprucing up daily wear is a doddle for Madame Paulette’s skilled team, which also routinely restores, repairs, and salvages vintage couture clothing and maintains a Vera Wang – approved bridal division that expertly preserves wedding gowns. Madame Paulette doesn’t draw the line at clothes. Its team of home interior specialists also cleans silk balloon shades and restores antique furniture upholstery. In fact, the company was summoned to many downtown Manhattan residences to clean furnishings covered by the dust from the September 11 attacks.
